Choose Peace! No US War on Cuba! Statement by Cuba Si New York-New Jersey Coalition

The Cuba Si NY/NJ Coalition denounces the stepped-up Washington economic aggression and direct military threats against the independent and sovereign nation of Cuba. Since the bogus indictment of former Cuban President and revolutionary hero Raul Castro on May 20th, 2026, the Donald Trump-Marco Rubio Administration has harshly increased its efforts to carry out military aggression with Cuba accompanied by crude and arrogant bombast from Trump. Our Coalition, made up of many dozens of independent organizations and dedicated activists are united in our response to stand with our Caribbean neighbor to fight the US war drive now! 

Anti-Cuba aggression, maintained by regular military threats and terrorist attacks from US territory, has been a continuous bipartisan policy of every president for the past six decades. Since the 1959 Cuban Revolution successive White Houses and Congresses have strangled Cuba in an attempt to see its socialist government fall. This “regime change” policy has escalated sharply, with a mounting loss of Cuban lives, under Trump’s second term. This has been especially seen since the January 6, 2026, military assault on Venezuela and the kidnapping of its President and First Lady.  

Since January 28, 2026, the US government banned all oil exports from other countries into Cuba, a blatant violation of international law. This has resulted in massive electrical power outages, with the Cuban people unable to access power in their homes for many hours every day. Hospitals are unable to schedule surgeries, with huge waiting lists. Pediatric hospitals are often unable to function for newborn children. This cruel policy will continue to result in the loss of lives for Cubans. 

We, the Cuba Si NY/NJ coalition, working with community organizations, elected officials, trade unionists, Cuba solidarity forces, anti-war coalitions, and diverse political parties and groups remains unified in our demand to stop the aggression against Cuba! We are building a broad, nonsectarian united front demanding Choose Peace-No War on Cuba! We are preparing for an immediate, mass Emergency Response to take place in the event of direct US military aggression against Cuba. We will not sit by and allow the US government, reeling politically from its unfolding debacle in Iran, to invest in unconstitutional wars abroad. This is while working people and the large majority of the US population struggle to meet our basic needs. We will continue fighting in solidarity with Cuba, putting all of our energy to stopping the US war drive against Cuba and for the complete elimination of the criminal US blockade.
